Privacy Policy
BookLibrary is made by Bruderhaus Apps, the software studio of Bruderhaus Architecture Inc. (“we”). The short version: we do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal data. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. Your library belongs to you.
Data stored on your device
Everything you catalog — books, cover images, notes, subjects, and attachments — is stored in a database on your device. We have no access to it and no servers of our own.
iCloud sync and backups
Your library syncs between your devices through Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit), in your private iCloud database. This data is protected by your Apple account and Apple’s encryption; we cannot read it. Optional library exports you create are saved where you choose, such as iCloud Drive, and are entirely under your control.
Camera
The camera is used only to scan ISBN barcodes when you add a book. Scanning happens entirely on your device. No photos or video are stored or transmitted.
Book metadata lookups
When you scan or search for a book, the app sends the ISBN or your search terms to public book databases to fetch title, author, cover, and other catalog details. Depending on your settings these may include Open Library, Google Books, ISBNdb, the Library of Congress, and the K10plus library network. These requests contain only the book identifier or search text — no personal information — and are subject to each service’s own privacy policy.
Optional AI features
If you choose to add your own Anthropic API key in Settings, the app can send a book’s catalog details (such as title, author, publisher, and description) to Anthropic’s Claude API to suggest subject headings or summaries. This is entirely optional, happens only when you request it, and is governed by Anthropic’s privacy policy. If you never add a key, nothing is ever sent to Anthropic.
API keys
Any API keys you enter (ISBNdb, Anthropic) are stored only on your device and are sent only to the respective service to authenticate your own requests. They are never sent to us.
Data retention and deletion
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. To remove your data, delete the app from your device and, if you use sync, remove the app’s data from iCloud in your device’s iCloud settings.
Children
BookLibrary is not directed at children under 13, and — as described above — it collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s behavior ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this policy here and note the new effective date above.
